Financial Controller - Projects

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Controller – Projects to join our Financial Controlling and Systems team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting of project activities ensuring accuracy and compliance across our project portfolio.

You will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial records, identifying irregularities, and supporting continuous improvement of financial processes and controls. The position requires a proactive professional with strong analytical and communication skills who can collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned month-end closing tasks, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Review project accounting at general ledger level, ensuring correct setup, compliance with policies, and accurate bookkeeping.
  • Analise the trial balance and project-related accounts, identifying variances, inconsistencies, or irregularities and initiating corrective actions.
  • Perform and oversee reconciliations of project balances and key accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with and support project controllers to investigate and resolve accounting issues or irregularities.
  • Prepare reports and financial analyses to support decision-making and financial transparency.
  • Contribute to the development and strengthening of internal controls related to project accounting.
  • Prepare documentation and materials required for external audits, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and control frameworks to enhance efficiency and reduce financial risks.

About you

We imagine that you:

  • Hold a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Have 4–6 years of experience in accounting or financial controlling.
  • Have strong analytical skills and enjoy working with financial data.
  • Have advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
  • Understand how financial transactions connect across accounts and processes, enabling effective reconciliations and error detection.
  • Are detail-oriented while also able to see the bigger picture.
  • Are curious, proactive, and quick to learn.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

About the team

You will join a team of 10 engaged colleagues in Financial Controlling, responsible for financial management and oversight across the Danish Red Cross. The team supports the wider organization with financial reporting, coordination of period closing, external audit processes, compliance, and financial controls. Salary and employment conditions will comply with Danish Red Cross’s collective bargain agreement with HK and AC. The position is a part-time position of 37 working hours per week inclusive lunch break.
